GEO engines read real answers
ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity are now read from the real product; Qwen, DeepSeek and Doubao use official APIs with web search. Sampling is gone.
Update, 2026-10-21. GEO runs only when you start it (there is no daily or weekly schedule), and Doubao is not yet runnable on paid accounts while its search price is verified.
GEO tracking now runs on six engines, each with real retrieval:
- ChatGPT and Gemini: the real consumer product, via DataForSEO's LLM scraper.
- Perplexity: the real consumer product, via Bright Data.
- Qwen: official API on Alibaba Bailian with web search on.
- DeepSeek: official DeepSeek model with DeepSeek's official Search API; AIEO runs the search loop (search forced, deep thinking off, at most three rounds).
- Doubao: the official Volcengine Ark API with web search on.
What changed for you:
- Prompts are sent as written. There is no system prompt any more.
- Citations come only from the sources the engine returned. For Qwen and DeepSeek, pages that search returned but the answer did not cite are shown separately and do not count toward the citation rate.
- Scraped engines answer within minutes, occasionally up to an hour. DeepSeek runs between 22:00 and 08:00 Beijing time, when its price is lowest.
- The searches an engine ran are shown when the engine exposes them.
- Claude, Copilot, Google AI Overview, Hunyuan and GLM are retired. Their history stays visible but they no longer run.
- Runs recorded under the old method are labeled Legacy sampled data and excluded from metrics.
- New prompts default to a weekly cadence.
- GEO tracking needs an active subscription.
